Basic Furniture

An empty house does not a home make. We like to provide a few basic furniture items for beneficiary families, as often they are coming from accommodation where the little they have has been detrimentally damaged due to the poor conditions of the residence. Very often children and adults alike will have been sleeping on the ground on an old mattress or decaying piece of foam at best, or a thin grass mat. Providing simple, sturdy, wooden framed beds, made by local carpenters is a must for us; this includes new mattresses and bedding. As space in the bedrooms is limited we provide bunk beds in children’s rooms where necessary. A wooden dining type table and benches are again basic, but robust and locally constructed. They are useful and versatile pieces of furniture that fulfill a number of functions in the home.
